Getting Graded for Weight Loss?

A departure from this week’s blog series for some breaking news…

At least 20 students at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania are in danger of missing graduation this year after failing to show significant effort in the college’s health and weight loss program, “Fitness for Life.”

Many students are angry, but James L. DeBoy, chair of Lincoln’s health, physical education and recreation department, believes it’s his professional responsibility to be up front with students about their potential for obesity-related health problems.

Check out the controversial, full article at Inside Higher Education online. What do you think? Should colleges base graduation requirements on weight loss requirements? Weigh in with your comments! We’d love to hear from you.
