About Dr. Barker
Dr. Wade Barker is an experienced bariatric surgeon, certified by the American Board of Surgery, who has helped over 2000 patients in Dallas and across Texas overcome morbid obesity and adopt new, healthier lifestyles. He and his staff pride themselves on providing individualized attention to every patient who enters their office. They also strive to make sure patients are well informed and comfortable with the weight loss surgery process. When Dr. Barker’s patients commit to improving their health and understand their vital role in making weight loss surgery successful, the results of surgery speak for themselves. Although located in Dallas, Dr. Barker has performed LAP-BAND surgery on patients from all over the Metroplex including: Fort Worth, Arlington, Richardson, Addison, Plano, Lewisville, Denton, and other cities.
In addition to his experience, Dr. Barker has an extensive educational background. After starting his undergraduate studies at Southwest Texas State University, Dr. Barker graduated magna cum laude from Eastern New Mexico University. Here he received an award for outstanding senior biology student along with a Loan Star Scholarship. He continued on to Texas Tech University School of Medicine to complete medical school, the internship and the general surgery residency. Dr. Barker is a member of the American Medical Association, the Texas Medical Association, the Dallas County Medical Association, and the American Bariatric Society. He has completed a preceptorship sponsored by the American Society of Bariatric Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
